Special Needs

Whether you are someone who has special needs or you are the parent or guardian of someone in this situation, you know how difficult it can be to receive dental care. Many mental and physical conditions make it frustrating to sit in a dental chair and receive the work that is needed. For this reason, we at Bright Star Sapphire Dental specialize in working with special needs patients of all ages. 

We know that coming to the dentist can be an overwhelming concept for certain patients, and we understand that every patient has their own individual needs and concerns and that not everyone is the same. Caring for a special needs patient takes compassion, understanding, and patience, and we are here to help provide the care that they deserve and need. Our goal is to provide any patient that requires special, more individualized care, with the dental care they need in a way they feel comfortable and safe. We think of all of our patients as Special, and NOT special needs.

An appointment with a special needs patient is generally different from a visit with a regular dentist. Dr. Kleyman tailors his approach to the patient’s needs and works with them to get them comfortable because he himself had traumatizing dental experiences as a child. He never wants a patient to feel afraid or out of control, so he always tries to get the appointment as stress-free as possible.

Bright Star Sapphire Dental has many ways to help our patients with high levels of anxiety, or those needing extra attention and care. We have a separate room that also is our sedation room. This form of dentistry allows the patient to receive the necessary dental care, but with comfort and ease from sedation in a more quiet and relaxing area. We offer Nitrous Oxide (laughing gas), and IV sedation for those patients who are full of anxieties.
